Lauren

Easy read, read it in a day。 Page turner

Debra

James Patterson, love his books! Midwives, I wish I could be one! The two together, a fantastic book!!!

Lauren Godby

Interesting The story was very suspenseful。 It’s hard to believe people would go to the lengths that they go through to commit crimes!

Whitney Swift

2。5 stars。。。。 not at all what I expected from James Patterson。 This book lacked excitement & was somewhat predictable。 Not the worst book I’ve ever read but I wouldn’t recommend it。

Ellie Brandt

I just could not stand the main character。 Annoying to say the least。 Kinda boring and not unexpected。

Stephanie

Reviews were not good but I enjoyed it。 Fast paced。 Medical mystery。 Irreverent attitude of Lucy。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I haven’t read any of his other books。 However I was on a trip with lots to f rainy days so I added this to my stash。 First of all the title is NOT accurate。 My main complaint is that the main character is portrayed as a whiney bitch in most of her interactions with other characters。 I didn’t think this was a believable plot either。 Despite my overall dissatisfaction with this book I did finish it。 Not sure if I’ll read any other books by this author。

It was a fast read (when a fast read was needed!)。 I didn't particularly like the main character (I found her smart ass attitude。 grating) and I found the overall story unbelievable。 It was a fast read (when a fast read was needed!)。 I didn't particularly like the main character (I found her smart ass attitude。 grating) and I found the overall story unbelievable。 。。。more

I enjoyed the plot, the writing, the fast pace。 It was very interesting。 Low stars was because I did not like the heroine。 For a midwife, she seemed to be angry all the time。 She never really acted happy until the very end when she was holding hands with a man。 Otherwise, she was constantly shrieking at someone。 That got annoying and made her not as likeable。

Emily

Was not worth the read; the writing was bad and the main character was unlikable。 No matter how much I tried, I felt like I was just reading the book to finish it rather than out of enjoyment。

Sarah

I liked it but found it a bit slow compared to most of his other books。

Terry

4。4She's the heroine that you want to keep saying, "stop that"。 All in all a good book 4。4She's the heroine that you want to keep saying, "stop that"。 All in all a good book 。。。more

Not the best book but definitely not the worst。 Got a little slow at some parts, I feel the majority of the book was fast paced, with a few clever twists。

Karen

I always enjoy James Patterson’s fast paced, interesting novels。 This was a great read!

Sharon

This is my first Patterson。 I thought both the writing and the characters were quite interesting。 I'll try some more。 This is my first Patterson。 I thought both the writing and the characters were quite interesting。 I'll try some more。 。。。more

not one of the best by patterson/dilallo , but puts a hospital experiencing infant kidnappings in to light and who is behind it。

The book never did get my full attention until near the ending。 The characters seemed to not be fully thought out and therefore I could not connect with them until toward the end when they seemed to be better developed。Also - the title is a misnomer。 Maybe part of my problem with the book was that I kept expecting midwives to be murdered or the midwives to be murderers。 Nope! The book is about babies being taken from a hospital。 [sigh]It's an ok read but it took me "2 borrows" to finish reading The book never did get my full attention until near the ending。 The characters seemed to not be fully thought out and therefore I could not connect with them until toward the end when they seemed to be better developed。Also - the title is a misnomer。 Maybe part of my problem with the book was that I kept expecting midwives to be murdered or the midwives to be murderers。 Nope! Jan Robinson

Easy read。 Love the main character, Lucy。 Wonder if this could become a new series?

Kathleen

Quick Read。 Midwife takes it upon herself to become a crime buster。 Not realistic。 But it’s entertaining。

Lisa Coco

So good!

Yvonne

A Poor choice。

Byron Hill

4 stars for identification purposes 。。 This is an EBook loaner 。。 which means I will probably lose it before finishing it 。。

This was one of the first JP books that I didn’t enjoy as much。 I feel like the storyline was a good one overall, but the build up of characters and linkages were clunky。 The underlying base of midwives support was okay - having been through birth a few times in recent years, I wasn’t that impressed with their role or descriptions。

Bonnie

My first James Patterson novel, I listened to it on audio and rather enjoyed it。

Jessie

Good but predictable。

Eirene Knott

Quick read, would enjoy future books with the two main characters。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Honestly, this has to be one of the worst books I’ve ever read。 The characters are so unbelievable and the writing honestly is nonsensical at times。 The character of Lucy is so irritating! I think she is meant to be sassy but just comes across like she needs some serious anger management as she’s so furious all the time。 The title of the book also doesn’t make sense because no midwife gets murdered? I even laughed out loud at times because the writing is so diabolical! I almost always enjoy books by James Patterson… I don’t care that half of them are ghost written at all。 A good story is a good story no matter who comes up with it。 Anyway, Lucy, a midwife and single mom, finds her self in the middle of a giant mess。 Abductions of babies from hospitals。 There are a lot of different aspects to this book and different plot points。 There are some red herrings of course as they’re always are but to be honest I kind of was pretty sure I knew what was going on to at I almost always enjoy books by James Patterson… I don’t care that half of them are ghost written at all。 A good story is a good story no matter who comes up with it。 Anyway, Lucy, a midwife and single mom, finds her self in the middle of a giant mess。 Abductions of babies from hospitals。 There are a lot of different aspects to this book and different plot points。 There are some red herrings of course as they’re always are but to be honest I kind of was pretty sure I knew what was going on to at least some extent。 I figured I had the intentions of each character pretty well mapped out… I could tell which ones were going to be the “bad guys“ pretty early and easily。 But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy the book… There were some definite surprises and some interesting twists。 So it was a good read and I got through it pretty quickly。 This might be the kind of book that would be a good start to a series but it’s hard to say。 。。。more
